Emil James “Moe” DeVeiga, 79, Dallas, formerly of Alameda, CA, passed away, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Alameda, CA. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Gertrude Sousa Veiga and was a graduate of Alameda High School, class of 1959.
He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1963 and The Army reserve from 1963 to 1966. After serving his country, he was a concrete finisher and then drove coast to coast as a tractor trailer driver for thirty-eight years with local trucking companies including Kevin Ryman Inc., Nescopeck, Pa. He has been employed at Dixon Excavating, Dallas for the past 12 years.
Emil was a member of the Alderson Methodist Church, Harveys Lake and The American Legion Post 967, Harveys lake.
Emil is survived by his wife of 37 years, Alice Spencer DeVeiga. Children, Dawn Vitack and her husband Darren, Harveys Lake, Brooke Golanoski, Largo FLA, John Paul and his wife Christine, Harveys Lake, Judy Sweinberg and her husband David Boyd Sweinberg, Harveys Lake, Janet Gushanas, and her husband Joseph, Portland, TX, Joanne Doran, Harding. Several grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held, Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM at The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa. 18612.
