Donald J. Carey, 86, Dallas, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021 at Kingston Health Care Center. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late George and Nan Davis Carey and was a 1954 graduate of Luzerne High School.
Donald was a letter carrier with the Dallas office of the US Postal Service for many years before his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas and was a member of the church choir and the Men’s Brotherhood of St. Paul’s. Donald was also a member of the Odd Fellows, Dallas. He had served his country proudly with the US Army.
Donald was preceded in death by a brother John Carey. Donald is survived by his wife of forty years, the former Helen Cartwright. Daughter, Laurie Carey and son, Christopher Carey. Stepchildren, daughter Karen Wilson and son Wayne Matthias-Long. A brother Fred (Beverly) Carey, New Hampshire. Several grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 28 at 11:30 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas, with The Rev. Charles Grube, pastor, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Family will receive callers at the church 10:30 – 11:15 AM at the church. Masks are required to be worn by all guests inside the church building. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 802, Dallas, Pa. 18612. Arrangements are under the direction of The Richard H.
