Bernard P. “Bernie” Simon, 59, Nanticoke, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at his residence after a tough fight with brain cancer. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Abraham and Bernadine Verbetich Simon and was a graduate of Dallas High School.
Bernie was a veteran serving in the US Army, a home inspector for his own company, Inspector Aid. He had worked for First general Services of NEPA and Disivano and Sons as a carpenter before opening his own business. Bernie was a master carpenter. He designed and made everything from granite countertops, cabinets, fireplaces to entire home remodels. He enjoyed watching all sports particularly, the Dallas Cowboys, camping and outdoor activities were some of his favorite pass times. He enjoyed going to his parents every Sunday for family dinners.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Abraham Simon. Surviving is his wife, Lebra “Libby” Yustat, at home. Daughter, Willow Lee Simon. Sons, Joshua Makarewicz, A.J. Smith, and Jonathan Cole. Brother, Joseph Simon. Sisters, Carlene Miller, Deann Parry, and Leann Booth. Grandchildren, Ty, Chase, Julia, Connor and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 PM until time of service. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 7:00 PM from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc, 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa. 18612 with The Rev. Dr. William Lewis, officiating. Online condolences can be made to Disquefuneralhome.com
