Amelia Hoban

June 5, 1929 — May 28, 2021

Amelia R. Hoban, 91, Dallas, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at her residence. Born in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late William and Magdalene Yuskauskas Jacobs and was a graduate of Luzerne High School and Kings County School of Nursing, Brooklyn, NY.

Amy or Milly as she was affectionately known by, had worked for Nesbitt Hospital for many years, as well as Wilkes-Barre General Hospital as a registered Nurse. She was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown and had volunteered on the Church Bereavement committee for many years. Amy enjoyed many other activities including her local gardening club, and avid Bridge player. She would also volunteer for a local Hospice organization for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Hoban in 1987. Sisters, Mary Cizeski and Jean Spears. Brothers, Joseph, John, Frank, William, and Edward Jacobs. Surviving are her son, Edward J. Hoban, Jr. and his wife Dawn. Daughter, Patricia L. Dubinski and her husband Daniel. Granddaughter, Corrinne Ku. Grandson, Timothy (Nichol Wilson) and Jeffrey Hoban. Great Grandchildren, Camila and Lorenzo Ku. Several nieces and nephews and extra special friend Susan Berdis.

Memorial service will be held privately at the convenience of the family from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa.
