William J. Motyka

William J. Motyka, 75, of Shavertown, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late William B. and Mary Fertal Motyka and was a graduate of Lake-Lehman High School.

William was a member of Gate of Heaven Church and the IBEW electrical union. He worked in construction with PP&L for 42 years before his retirement. For many years, he was involved in scouting and had earned the Order of the Arrow. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the NRA.

William was preceded in death by his infant son, Eric, and grandson, William Matthew Motyka.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Susanne Szenher, at home; son, Matthew Motyka and his wife, Nicole, Lancaster, PA; daughter, Caroline Motyka, Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Asher and Azalea Motyka; sisters, Anne Flasser and Kathy Mueller; and his dog, Chloe.
