Ruth E. Plata

Ruth E. Plata, 98, Shavertown, passed away, Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Lakewood Nursing Center, Nanticoke. Born in Lehman, she was the daughter of the late Leland and Florence Ely Wentzel and was a graduate of Lehman High School.

Ruth was a member of The Lehman United Methodist Church. She was employed with The Dallas School District and the food preparations department. Some of her favorite pass times was reading and playing her guitar.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Anthony in 1967. Also, by sisters, Dorothy Wentzel, Arlene Hospodar, and Mildred Shupp. Brother Francis Wentzel. Surviving are her sons, Anthony Plata and his wife Terry, Center Moreland and Joseph Plata, Idetown. Grandchildren, Anthony and Jeffrey Plata.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 10:00 AM from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, PA. with The Rev. John Whitehead, pastor, Lehman Idetown United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be private in Lehman Center Cemetery. On line condolences may be made at Disquefuneralhome.com
