Ruth Herbert

Ruth E. Herbert, 78, of Dallas, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Harriet Bowman Miller and the beloved wife of Timothy Herbert Sr.  She was a graduate of Dallas High School and Wilkes-Barre School of Practical Nursing.

Ruth was an LPN at the Meadows Nursing Center for thirty years, until her retirement. Earlier in her career she worked at Nesbitt Hospital, where she met the aunt of her future husband and the rest was history. She was a member of the Dallas United Methodist Church throughout her younger years and then began attending Gate of Heaven Church with her family. Ruth often said her purpose for being born was to be a Mom, and she was the absolute best Mom around.  She was also the best Grammy and she very much enjoyed being with her grandchildren and attending all of their activities.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Timothy Herbert, Sr., sister, Judith Miller and her daughter Mary’s partner, Nicholas Maceiko. Surviving are her daughters Mary Herbert, of Dallas, Amy Collura and her husband Brian, of Swoyersville, and her son, Timothy Herbert. Jr., Ruckersville, VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ashley Collura and her husband Abdullah Almereb, Morgan and Tessa Collura, her sister, Mary Yankowski; brothers, Arthur Miller, Jr. and James Miller; and her much loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 at 10:00 AM from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc. 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, 18612. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM at Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 PM.
