Ruth L. Hartzel, 89, Dallas, passed away, Friday, November 3, 2023 at Allied Hospice, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret Kmetz Laskoski and was a graduate of Hanover Area High School class of 1952.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William and was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Kopec. Surviving are her sons, David W. Hartzel, Mililani, HI, and Paul W. Hartzel and his wife Marie, Randolph, NJ, and her grandchildren, Carter and Harrison Hartzel. Ruth will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Ruth worked in the admissions office of College Misericordia until her retirement. Previously, she was employed at Bell Telephone. Ruth was a devoted mother and wife to her children and husband and a loving grandmother and was always concerned about the happiness and comfort of others ahead of her own. She had a deep faith in God and was a devout Catholic. As a member of the Altar & Rosary Society at Gate of Heaven Church she was involved in many church events and fundraisers and firmly believed in the power of reciting the rosary. She made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where it is believed the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared on Apparition Hill.
Funeral service will be held FRIDAY, November 10, 2023 at 9:30 AM from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 29409 Memorial Highway, Dallas, PA, with Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Gate of Heaven Church, 40 Machell Ave., Dallas. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
