Robert M. Rowlands, Sr., 74, Dallas, passed away, Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Elwood and Marian Putprush Rowlands and was a graduate of Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre. He was a truck driver with Nicholas Trucking for 40 years before his retirement.
Bob, aka “Lumpy,” was a member of Teamsters Union 401, Gate of Heaven Church, The Harveys Lake American Legion, Tunkhannock Beagle Club and Moon Lake RC Club. Bob drove for The American Red Cross and volunteered with The Idetown J.R. Davis Fire Department. He was an avid Trapp Shooter. Bob loved hunting, boating, fishing, traveling where he and his wife visited Africa, Canada, Wyoming State, New York and Florida. (Making new friends everywhere he went). Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their camp in Wyalusing, PA.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, the former Lorraine Tarutis, Son, Robert Rowlands and his wife Lisa, Norwich, NY. Daughter, Ainsley Patton and her husband William, Dallas. Grandsons, Drew and Aaron Patton. Sister, Sharon Randolph and her husband John, Florida, and beloved niece, nephews, and cousins across the United States. Bob will also be dearly missed by his best friend Art Kingston, life-long pal Ron VanWhy and many others.
Memorial service will be held, Friday, November 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, Friends may call from 9:30 AM until time of service.
