Paul H. Kunkle 97 of Orange (Dallas), passed away Jan. 8, 2025. Born April 1,1927 in Orange, he was the son of Mark Morgan Kunkle and Myrtle Dymond Kunkle. Preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 70 1/2 years Romaine in 2023.
Paul attended a 1 room schoolhouse in Orange until 8th grade, then attended West Pittston High School graduating in 1945. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. Bull in the Philippines and Shang Hi, China. After serving he attended Penn State Wilkes-Barre graduating with a degree in surveying.
Paul retired from Power Engineering Corporation after a 45 year career as a HVAC designer and consultant for industrial manufacturing plants. He and his wife wintered in Bradenton Florida for 18 years in retirement, enjoying many new friendships over the years.
Paul was also a 70 year life member of Wyoming Lodge No. 468 F.&A.M., Bloomsburg Consistory and Irem Temple Shrine in which he marched in Arab Patrol Unit and enjoyed playing golf as part of the Easy Riders. Paul was a member of Shavertown U.M. Church and over the years sat on various administrative boards.
Paul and his wife Romaine lived in the same house they built together in Orange for 70 years and were very proud of their 4 children they raised in it. Over the years he enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, family camping vacations and working around the home. He was a dedicated follower and fan of the Penn State football and wrestling teams and always enjoyed a good Manhattan, Martini or glass of wine with family or friends.
Surviving are his sons, Mark (Sandy) State College, Bruce (Bonnie) Orange, daughters Kathy (John) Delaware, Polly (David) Beaumont. 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
