Marilyn Margaret Grant, 91, Dallas, passed away, Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Greenbriar Assisted Living Center, Dallas. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late John Simon and Florence Mildred McCarthy Smith and was a graduate of St. Nicholas School, Wilkes-Barre.

       Marilyn was a very faithful teacher with the Wilkes-Barre Are School District teaching at Kistler Elementary School and later principal of Kistler and taught at Saint Nick’s in Williamsport. Marilyn was a member of Gate of Heaven Parish, Dallas as well as Sisters of Christian Charity. She taught Latin and CCD classes. She was a member of The Altar and Rosary Society of Gate of Heaven. She also taught classes of Religious Education at St. Mary’s.   

       She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond James Grant in 2000. Sisters, Florence Ann Smith Lavelle, Regina Bertha Smith Pudim. Brothers, John Smith, III, Daniel Wiliam Smith.  Surviving is a sister, Irene Smith Evans. Her legal guardian Carol Carroll, Dallas.

      Marilyn loved God, her beloved husband Ray, her family, her precious students, and her friends. If you were lucky enough to know Marilyn, then you have seen a living Saint. She will be greatly missed by her guardian, caregivers, best friends Sister Elsa SCC, Christopher and Kathy Sheridan, former students, and the employees and staff at Greenbriar who all gave Marilyn much love.

      Funeral Service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc. 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas. On line condolences may be made at Disquefuneralhome.com.
