Joanne Smith

Joanne (Szish) Smith, 63, of Greenfield Twp, Lackawanna County, passed away, Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Mountain Top Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Ruislip-Northwood, Middlesex, England, she was the daughter of Melvin and Rose Mills Szish of Luzerne and was a 1972 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School.

Joanne worked at the Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company and its subsidiaries from 1972 until her retirement in 2015. She enjoyed crafting, archery and cherished lunch outings with her friends and coworkers.

She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2004 and her sister, Linda Sukaloski. Surviving in addition to her mother and father are her Step-children, Ann Marie Smith and Mary Ellen Weitzel. Brother, Michael Szish, Mt. Top. Nieces April Rawheiser, Wilmington, Dawn Van Fossen, Slocum, Diane Meyer, Collegeville, Nephew David Szish of New York and several grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the direction of The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.
