Janice E. Congdon

Janice E. Congdon, 82, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, PA. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Vivian Davis Rinken and a graduate of Lake Lehman High School and Mercy School of Nursing, Scranton.

     Early in her career she worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes- Barre, and for over 30 years at The Meadows Nursing Center until her retirement. Janice was also a member of the Harvey’s Lake Women’s Club for many years.

     Janice was preceded in death by her daughter, Deanne Congdon (1969) and her husband of 59 years, Melvin (2022). Surviving are her son, Melvin Congdon Jr. of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Matthew Congdon and his wife, Chelsea, Jessica Congdon, and Sarah Congdon; sister, Debra Houck and her husband, Dale; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     A funeral service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Donations to St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton may be made in honor of Janice’s memory.
