Herbert Dale Woodeshick, Hunlock Creek, PA (Lake Silkworth) went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. He was 79 years old. Herb was born on February 27, 1944, in Nanticoke, PA. He graduated from Hanover High School in 1961 and Penn State University in 1965 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He went on to work for PPL for 39 years and retired after serving as the Corporate Spokesperson for Susquehanna Nuclear Power Plant.
Herb served his community with pride with many organizations. He was a 50-year member of the Coalville Masonic Lodge #474, Bloomsburg Consistory and Irem Shrine. He served as multiple officers in the Lions, Kiwanis, Jaycees, Berwick Hospital Board, Central Susquehanna Community Foundation, Berwick Health and Wellness Foundation, Lake Silkworth Fireman’s Association, and Lake Silkworth Protective Association. He was a member of the Columbia Montour BSA Council and received the BSA Silver Beaver Award. He served on the Berwick Chamber of Commerce, Berwick United Way, and the Berwick Salvation Army. He was also a member of The Back Mountain Men’s Ecumenical Group.
Herb loved the Lord serving in many United Methodist Churches through the years – Dallas, Bethany (Berwick), Conyngham and Honesdale. He loved singing in the choir, playing in the bell choir, served as a Lay leader and officer on many church boards. He is currently a member of Dallas United Methodist Church.
Herb loved playing golf with family and friends, watching Penn State football as a season ticket holder for over 40 years, and watching the Eagles and the Phillies and loved living on the lake at Lake Silkworth.
Herb is survived by his wife Susan (Cooper) Woodeshick. They were married for 53 years. Children, Karen (Eric) Paules, New Freedom, PA and Kevin (Rochelle) Woodeshick, Nescopeck, PA; grandchildren, Ethan (Alexis) Paules, Kevin Ty (Alex) Woodeshick, Hannah Woodeshick, Brendan (Erin) Paules, Luke Woodeshick, Taylor Woodeshick and Lauren Paules. Brother Glenn (Theresa) Woodeshick, Naples, FL.
Other family mother-in-law Betty Cooper, sister-in-law Carol (Marshall) Longenecker, brother-in-law John (Becky) Cooper, sister-in-law Janet Jones along with many nieces and nephews. Herb was preceded in death by his parents Herbert Woodeshick, his mother Mary Gertrude (Metcalf) Woodeshick, his father-in-law John Cooper, nephew John Longenecker and great granddaughter Cana Josephine Paules.
Memorial Service will be held at Dallas United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 12:00 PM. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 until time of service. Private interment will take place at a later time.
