Gerald “Buzzy” Oliver, 79, Shavertown, passed away, Saturday, June 27, 2026 at his residence. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa he was the son of the late Elsworth and Martha Dola Oliver and was a graduate of GAR High School. Grew up in the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre.
Gerald was a member of St. Therese’s Church. He was affiliated with Tobyhanna Army Depot most of his career as a communications technician until his retirement. He had spent some time as a technician with WARM Radio. He had served his country proudly with the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict.
Gerlad was a lover of wildlife and nature in general. Many of his favorite pass times involved hunting and fishing and going on drives with his dog Princess. Gerald loved dearly his LORD, The Blessed Mother and saying his rosary daily.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rose in 2023 and Brother, Thomas Oliver. Surviving are nieces Mary Ashton, Melissa Neishell, and Christina Hannon and nephew Richard Gdovin, Brother-in-Law Ed Neishell, Sister-in-law, Adeline Treslar (Ted). Also his friend and caregiver, Debbie Pfeffer.
Memorial services will be held Friday, July 17, 2026 at 10:30 AM from St. Therese Church. 64 Davis Street, Shavertown. Friends may call Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 6 to 8 PM at The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, PA, 18612. Those attending the church service are to go directly to the church. On line condolences may be made at Disquefuneralhome.com.
