Ellen Dobinick, 93, a resident of The Village at Greenbriar, Dallas, passed away on August 18, 2024. She had previously resided for 54 years in the Oak Hill development of Idetown. Born in Wyoming, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Ellen O’Boyle Kinney and was a graduate of Wyoming Memorial High School.
Her late husband, Dennis, had served in the United States Air Force for 22 years, and together they traveled with their children extensively throughout the United States and in Japan. Prior to retirement, Ellen was employed as an executive secretary at Payne Printery. She was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown.
Ellen thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with the Back Mountain Food Pantry, the Dinners for Kids program, and Luzerne County Head Start. For many years, she worked for the Board of Elections in Idetown. She loved to read and work jigsaw puzzles, and held many fond memories of cruises taken with her daughters, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters. Ellen lived a life of great devotion to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis J. Dobinick, in 2002; son, Jeff; and brothers, Patrick and Francis Kinney. Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Milks and her husband, Doc, Dallas; Kelly Lyons and her husband, Jim, Sweet Valley; Vicki Gromel and her husband, Don, Harveys Lake; and son, Barney and his wife, Jean, Harveys Lake; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas PA 18612.
