With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Elizabeth Jean (Wolfkeil) Allabaugh, age 90. She passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Known as “Bette” by family and friends, she was born in Hazleton, PA on December 12, 1935 to the late Adam and Ruth (Krothe) Wolfkeil.
Bette graduated from Hanover Township High School in1953. She worked for the Social Security Administration in Wilkes-Barre for 34 years, retiring as lead clerk. She resided in the family in Hanover Green for 75 years before moving to the Masonic Village in Dallas, PA.
Bette was quiet and dignified with a sharp sense of humor. She had a positive personality and would always step in to help family and friends. She loved to cook and found pleasure in doing so with others. She was fond of sitting on the front porch, visits neighbors and just watching the world go by.
Bette was a loving and caring presence in the lives of her family and close friends and will be deeply missed by all. She was also a devoted sister and avid champion for her brother, Col Wayne B. Wolfkeil (MIA,1968, Vietnam), in honoring his memory, service, and sacrifice every chance she could.
In addition to her parents, Bette was preceded in death by her husband Loring “Bill” Allabaugh, and her brothers Wayne and John Wolfkeil. Bette is survived by her nieces and nephews and good friend, for over eight decades, sister-in-law Shirley (Paull) Wolfkeil.
A private burial will be at the Hanover Green Cemetery in Hanover Township, PA at a later date.
