Dr. John M. Rhoads, DMD, Dallas passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 at his residence. Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late George and Georgia Malady Rhoads and was a graduate of Baldwin High School and The University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s and Doctorate in Dentistry.
John was an adventurous traveler, and loved to go for a drive. He was an avid golfer for many years. But more than that he was known for his kindness, generosity, and was a true friend to everyone that he knew.
John was a member of The Trucksville United Methodist Church. Member and past president of The Rotary Club of Dallas as well as past president of The Annville Rotary Club. John was a multiple recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award of Rotary International (The highest award of Rotary). He was the Chief of Dentistry at both the Lebanon, and Wilkes Barre VA Hospitals after serving at the VA in Pittsburgh. Locally he had also worked with Coslett Family Dentistry in Dallas and Tunkhannock Free Clinics.
He is preceded in death by his wife Dorene in 2013 and brother, David Rhoads. Surviving are his sons Jonathan Rhoads and his wife Virginia, Pittsburgh and Christopher Roads and his wife Carrie, Portland Oregon.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Trucksville United Methodist Church. Friends may call Saturday from 11:30 AM until time of service. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in his memory to either the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society.
