Carol A. Smith, 79, Dallas, passed away, Monday, September 14, 2026 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. Born in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Lillie Connelly Lamoreaux and was a graduate of Lehman High School. She earned a degree in Chemistry and Home Economics from College Misericordia.
Carol started off her career as a kindergarten teacher in Wyalusing and substitute taught for years to follow. Carol was a bank teller with Luzerne Bank for many years before her retirement. Carol was a mother first and foremost, focusing on family get togethers and maintaining a close family bond. She enjoyed spending dinners together, sharing day-to-day experiences as well as many memories with family and friends. Her pumpkin roll was a best seller. Carol loved travelling and planning day trips, she was not one to sit still.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Gary Smith in 2021. Surviving are her daughters, Heather Smith, St Joseph’s Center, Dickson City, Amy Bonnerwith and her husband Brian, Forty-Fort, Colbey Galka and her husband Michael, Lehman. Son, Preston Smith, Sanford, Fla. 8 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa. Online condolences may be made at Disquefuneralhome.com. Donations can be made to St. Joseph’s center c/o 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509 in honor of Carol.
