Bernice Murphy

Bernice Emaline (Hughes) Murphy, 88, of Dallas, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Celtic Hospice at Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Richard Sr., and Jennie (Hall) Hughes.

Bernice was a seamstress for many years in Newark, New Jersey. Bernice enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren, created beautiful cross-stitch, baking and traveling with her husband John and her family.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband John F. Murphy, Sr., her sister, Beatrice Bryan Marlowe Hughes Hutt and brothers, Richard Jr., William Thomas, Edgar Hall, John Owen, Willard Charles, and Clifford Daniel Hughes.

Surviving are her son, John Francis Murphy, Jr. and his wife Linda of East Grand Forks, MN, Daughter, Linda Lee Dec and her husband John of Bear Creek Township; Sister, Mary Jane Hughes Buzzello of Kihei, HI and brother, Edward David Hughes and his wife Diana of Tampa, FL., 4 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with The Rev. Robert Zanicky, pastor, First Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre, officiating. Interment will be in Perrego Cemetery, Harveys Lake. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and again Wednesday from 11:00 am until time of service.
