Andrea Picchi

Andrea Picchi, 72, of Harveys Lake, passed away at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on Thursday, December 16.  Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. Maher and the late Elizabeth M. Morgus. She was a 1968 graduate of Central Catholic High School, and a 1972 graduate of Kings College.  Andrea was in the first women’s class for social work.

Andrea was a wonderful wife and devoted mother and grandmother.  She loved her family.  In her later years she took care of her grandchildren, accompanying them to sporting events and being an avid supporter in which they were the light of her life.

Andrea was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church.  She was a member of the Harveys Lake Woman’s Club, President of Harveys Lake Little League, and the PTA of Lake Noxen Elementary School.  She was employed as a social worker for Valley Crest.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Frank Picchi, daughter; Heather Gensel and husband Reggie of Harveys Lake, Son; Ryan Picchi and Robin Stever of West Wyoming.  She will be missed by her grandchildren, Alahna Morris and Ayden Picchi.  Also surviving is her sister Michelle Coombs and husband Kevin of Dallas; sister in laws Nancy Bohonko and Michael of Plains and Carol Kosisky of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sister, Sharon Eddy. Andrea’s family would like to extend a very heartfelt appreciation to Harveys Lake Chief of Police Charlie Musial, Dr. Saidman, Dr. Peters and Dr. Kevin Carey.

A blessing service will be held Monday, December 20, at 7 PM, at Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Hwy., Dallas.  Friends may call on Monday from 4PM to 7PM at the funeral home.
