Allen D. (Slim) Adamitz, 72 , Shavertown, passed away, Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Edward R. and Marguerite Micklus Adamitz. He was a graduate of West Side Technical School.
Allen served as a Correctional Officer at SCI Dallas for 31 years before his retirement. He was a past volunteer with the Shavertown Fire Department. He was a parent volunteer for the Luzerne County 4-H Program. Allen coached T-Ball and Girls Softball for Back Mountain Baseball.
Allen was an avid hunter and fisherman, skills he shared with his grandchildren. He was known by many for his wine making. He was actively involved with the Disabled Veterans Hunt held annually at SCI-Dallas.
He was preceded in death by a brother Edward R. Adamitz, Jr. He is survived by his wife, the former Dianne Lidzbarski, daughter Amanda DiPaola, grandchildren Ella and Nicola DiPaola, Nieces Rhonda (Annie) Williams and Christina Gordon.
Friends may call on Monday Nov.10 th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Richard Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Hwy., Dallas. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 10, 2025 at 7:00 pm. Donations may be made to Luzerne County 4-H Horse Clubs, 16 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston, PA 18643.
