Alice J. Adams, 68, Laurel Run, passed away, Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Lakewood Nursing and Rehab Center, Nanticoke, after battling Parkinson’s Dementia. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Ethel (Besancon) Adams and was a 1974 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School.
Alice was a talented and accomplished typist, working as a Clerical Secretary with The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for over 35 years until her retirement in 2022. Prior to her work at DEP she worked at the Howell & Jones Real Estate company for many years starting work there while still in high school. She advanced into insurance sales and became the management’s lead secretary. She also completed residential and commercial appraisals for Joe Rosen Real Estate for many years.
She was a former, long-time member of The Parson’s Primitive Methodist Church where she participated in the church choir and ladies’ aid. Most recently she attended the Cherry Street Bible Church, Plymouth. Alice very much enjoyed country line dancing and made many friends through her dancing endeavors.
One of her biggest accomplishments is the raising of her two daughters, who she was so very proud of, supporting them in all that they did, being an active band parent and softball mom, and eventually earning the beloved title “Grandma in the Woods.”
Along with her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her sister, Esther Kowalski. Surviving are her daughters, Amy Sienkiewicz and her husband James of Plymouth, PA and Sarah Slepski and her husband Tyler of Butler, PA, her 6 beloved grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Noah, Josiah, Bethany, Eli, Colton, and Quinn, along with many dear friends and relatives.
Funeral service will be held, Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa 18612 with The Rev. James Sienkiewicz, (Her son-in-law), Pastor of the Cherry Street Bible Church, Plymouth, officiating. Interment will be in Idetown Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 PM and Tuesday from 9 AM until the start of the service.
